St Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr School- Chicago
They Closed my School From: http://schools.archdiocese-chgo.org/news_releases/news_2004/news_031504d.htm STATEMENT BY REV. ANTHONY DZIORED, C.R., PASTOR ST. STANISLAUS BISHOP AND MARTYR SCHOOL, CHICAGO RE: DECISON NOT TO REPOPEN ST. STANISLAUS B&M SCHOOL CHICAGO (March 15, 2004) – After extensive consultation and discussion among archdiocesan officials, parish committees and school leadership a decision has been made not to reopen St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr for the 2004-2005 school year because of lack of enrollment. The decision to close St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr comes with much regret. The rich history of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr School makes it even more difficult to see the school close. Over the past century, St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr has taken great pride in the success of its many graduates. The students of St. Stan's have always been well prepared academically as well as spiritually for high school and beyond. The parish is truly grateful for the sacrifices the parishioners and teachers have made to offer an excellent academic foundation and a faith-filled Catholic education for several thousand of our parish's young people. Declining enrollment influenced by increasing tuition costs during a time of economic uncertainty for many families offered us no alternatives. Moreover, the parish is unable to support the school at its current enrollment level. St. Stanislaus began the current year with a total of 170 students. As of March 9, 2004, the number of students registered for 2004-2005 is 115. Despite the best efforts of all involved to create solutions to maintain our school, the projected future enrollment would not be sufficient to permit the school remain open next year. Mr. Robert Condon, principal of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, and the dedicated faculty are committed to ensuring that the tradition of academic excellence will be continued through the end of the academic school year. Our students have always been our number one priority. Throughout its history, St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr School has been dedicated to shaping our children's minds to think, their hearts to love and their hands to serve. We appeal to all our parishioners for their prayers and positive support during this difficult moment in time. May St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr watch over us and guide us during our transition.
